A backup storage device refers to a type of disk-based hardware appliance bundled with software for data management and data services. Enterprise backup storage often makes use of both disk and tape as storage media. Special software is used to manage backup as part of a storage system.

There are mainly three types of backup :
  • Full backup, differential backup, and incremental backup. Let’s take a look at each types of backup and its respective pros and cons.
  • Backup storage refers to a storage device, medium or facility that is used for storing copies and instances of backup data. Backup storage enables the maintenance, management, retrieval and restoration of backup data for any individual, application, computer, server or any computing device.
  • Storage is the act of keeping your data in a secure location that you can access readily. Files in storage should be the working copies of your files that you access and change regularly. Backup is the practice of keeping additional copies of your data in separate physical or cloud locations from your files in storage.
